Half-term Party Pictures!

Our half-term party at Chats Palace was a great success and was attended by a number of families, careres, volunteers and LOTS of children! There were a number of activities, including the excellent Potty Patrick, The Barking Dog Theatre Company, a bouncy castle, face painting, massage for children and adults. It seems that everyone enjoyed the day especially the lunch from Peppers and Spice!

Thank you to all the parents who took the time to speak to Jeannie about HFBU and told her what they thought of the services that we provide. It's very important for us to get your ideas about the services that you would like to have. So thank you again to all the parents who took part.

Earn £50!!!!

Would you like to earn £50 in vouchers of your choice, if so read on!

It became clear during our half-term event that parents really value our services but felt they needed more support, especially from carers who can provide lone care. We are asking carers, volunteers and parents to talk to friends or people that they know about how wonderful and rewarding it is to be a homesitter or overnight short break carer. If you successfully Shopping introduce somebody to HFBU you will receive £ 50 worth of vouchers when the carer is linked with a child. If you are a parent you will receive the vouchers when a carer is linked to a child other than your own.

Depending on the interest generated by this incentive, we plan to have an "open lunch" at HFBU so that potential carers can meet staff informally to discuss possible roles within the organisation. So get talking to all your friends and contacts! And watch this space!

Increase in Carer Allowances

From 1st May, carers allowances will be increasing to £6.50 an hour and £60 for one overnight stay.

Placement agreements detailing the changes will be sent out very soon.

Please return them ASAP!

New toys for the Toy Library!

We have recently bought some more new toys for the Toy Library. The additions include more Eye Toy games for Playstation 2, special switches which can be used to operate any electrical / battery appliance, new books and DVDs of books, board games, funky mirrors, fibre optics and more sensory toys which are a bit difficult to describe but well worth a go! If you are interested in accessing our Toy Library, give us a ring and arrange a time to visit.

New Homes for Two Beanbags

Due to the expansion of our Toy Library, we are running very short of space and have two beanbags, which have never been used, that need a home. If you are interested contact any member of the team.
