Hello Adijat
HFBU is very pleased to welcome Adijat Bolaji, our new Admin worker. She is in the office every day from 9.30-2.30 and is likely to be your immediate contact as she answers the phones. Adijat has just graduated with a degree in Educational Studies. She has a young daughter and lives in Hackney.
|
ID Badges
Adijat will be issuing updated ID badges to carers and volunteers whose badges have expired, for which we need two passport sized photos. When you have sent us these, Adijat will send you the badge, which you will need to sign and fit in the sticky badge provided. Please remember to do this! It is a legal requirement for you to have a badge.

AGM and Art Competition
Our AGM at the Vortex Jazz Club in November was well attended by families and friends of HFBU. There were two items of particular interest, the results of the art competition and the speaker. We had some brilliant and colourful entries in the art competition and our judge, previous Director of HFBU Alex Hendra, found it very difficult to select an outright winner. All entrants were awarded with a prize, but main winners were Eftal Husseyin, whose lovely design will be used for our new postcard, and Shanice Hoffman, whose beautiful collage will become part of our travelling exhibition. Our speaker this year was Peter Whelan, a Music Therapist of many years experience, who gave an entertaining and informative talk about how music therapy can be used with disabled children.

Parents' Group
HFBU has been facilitating a group for parents of children and young people with additional needs. These are an opportunity to hear what is going on in Hackney and to have your say about what works well and how things can be improved. The group has been well attended, with two lively sessions so far on play and housing. The next session is on Thursday Feb 2nd and is on Looking After Yourself.
Other dates for this school year are:
9th March
4th May
8th June
6th July
Meetings take place at the Huddlestone Centre from 9.30-12.30.
Child Development Centre
Planning permission has now been granted for the new CDC in Shacklewell. The expected completion and opening date is Autumn 2007.
